aislewalk goes wedding fair
With Christmas just a few days away, most people are thinking of presents and eggnog. Sharing a few days with family and friends and a couple of much needed days of work. Well, for us at aislewalk, we’re wrapping up a few presents of our own…. We are getting ready to give away thousands of FREE copies of aislewalk 2007 at the annual Wedding Fair at the Westin Bayshore being held January 6&7. It is always an exciting time of year for us as this is when we actually get to get into the trenches and spread the word about our little publication. We hope to see everyone there!
Happy holidays to all
great chocolates!
So I happen to go to the circle craft christmas market this year. I love to see all the great small businesses and because I belive that inspiration can come from anything, this show is choc full of just that. There is fashion, christmas decor and of course great food. So I came across this little booth where they were giving away chocolate samples. After I tried a piece (and it was incredible) I noticed that they had a unique collection of chocolates called the masterpeice collection with beautifull little illustrations on them. Including a cherry blossom which is a hot theme this year carrying over from last year.

Anyhow, they also have great little favor gift boxes for weddings, and are open to custom work. Check out this great company if you really want chocolate favors, but with a modern twist. www.chocolatas.com

perfect product ~ posh wed pod
Engaged couples in Vancouver have less time to plan due to busy schedules, making it difficult to meet potential vendors. In response, aislewalk vendor Marliss Productions recently unveiled the Posh Wedding Video Podcast a free online bridal resource where couples watch vignettes, essentially meeting the vendors, viewing their services and can even ask for advice. Couples will be able to see hot new fashion trends for 2007, get expert make-up advice, décor ideas and much more. They will also get tips on how to prepare themselves for a consultation with a vendor making sure they know what questions to ask and what to be on the look out for.
Now, couples can view vendor’s webcasts in the comfort of their own home. They can also view podcasts by uploading the movie file onto their video iPods and watch it on the go. Now couples can enjoy planning by connecting to a resource based on the familiar television network platform in an aesthetically pleasing environment. Congrats to Marliss who won the aislewalk award for Best New Product.

I think this is an incredible product that has so many wonderful uses…
WEDDING GRAFFITI! Yes, they are vinyl letters, words and phrases that can be temporarily placed on walls, dance floors, church doors, alters… anywhere. So beautiful, useful and romantic. And as the designer of the magazine, I love to see type everywhere! Check out the photographs below for examples, and go to www.wonderfulgraffitiwedding.com to order yours!

As mentioned in an earlier post, the aislewalk team will be on the lookout for cool products and will be conducting reviews throughout the year to assist brides in getting their hands on the coolest stuff! Our first product is the PHOTO BOOTH. We are thrilled to be the first to have experienced the vintage photo booth by Auto Photo at our recent soiree. This thing is amazing! It was the hit of the party and brides in Vancouver now have the ability to get one here rather than from back east or from the US. The rental starts at around $1600. I had seen on a lot of forums that brides were at a loss trying to find one here….well girls…we found it for you! I would book early as I am sure it will be a hot item for 2007.
the annual soiree
I was hoping to wait until the pro pictures arrived so that I could put them up for everyone to see but I just had to post about the party and the 2007 issue which is finally out! The event was held at the Met which I have to say was the most amazing venue. James Sweeney was such a pleasure to work with and went so far above the call of duty it’s ridiculous!!!! In fact, the entire staff blew me away. We went with a 1940’s Hollywood theme complete with Hollywood martinis, jazz band, crystals galore…..oh yah and then there was the amazing photo booth that everyone had a kick out of.
With over 150 industry pros there, it was a little overwhelming for me but so great to see everyone out in support of our little publication. The Nelson Boshmann trio started off the night with a big band bang and I have to mention the stunning cake by Kerridan Cakes and the wow factor cupcakes by Cakewalk. Girls….you rock! Then there was Jeannette from Delovely Creative, who despite being extremely jetlagged after a long flight from China, managed to produce out of this world decor to set the tone. Can’t thank you enough for everything! Special thanks too, to Flower Factory for perfect centerpeices….I did just as you asked and took them home…my officer never looked so good! We even handed out our little awards to some of the vendors for their spectacular contributions to aislewalk and tantalizing treats from Barefoot Venus as a special thanks to all those who helped to make the event a success. I think we’ll have to make that part an annual event in itself.
It was so amazing to see familiar faces and meet so many new ones. I hope we see more of each other throughout wedding season. Now comes the fun part of getting the publication out there for the brides which wil happen over the next few weeks and we’ll be there with bells on at Wedding Fair to spread the aislewalk word.
Thanks to everyone for your kind emails and messages following the party and make sure to send over your photo strips! Would love to put them up for everyone…of course only the ones that you didn’t have to close the curtain for!
I promise to update the blog with the pro pics soon. Special thanks to Anita & Gina Photography for coming down to capture the event. Can’t wait to see all the great shots.
For anyone who hasn’t seen it yet… here is the 2007 cover…keep an eye out…
