aislewalk makes it’s Holt Renfrew Debut

dsc_0174.jpg
You saw right. We are thrilled to announce that aislewalk can now be found at Holt Renfrew. The gals at Bobbi Brown invited me down to take part in their annual Bridal Event and of course I accepted. After meeting many of the decision makers at Holt Renfrew and showing off our little publication, a great idea emerged…. aislewalk shouldn’t just be available at the event, it should be available everyday! aislewalk will now be available at the Bobbi Brown counter at Holt so any brides wanting to pick up their free copy, should head on down and while you’re at it, try some of the fantastic makeup found at Bobbi Brown.

It was an amazing event with a lot of great people on hand to cater to a bride’s every whim. From the fantastic gals of Bobbi Brown who might just be the most amazingly talented makeup artists I have ever seen to Kevin from Avantgarde Hair Studio who even worked his magic on my hair, the talent was out in full force.

The highlight of the event for me was getting to hang out with the amazing staff who head up Tiffanys at Holt. They shared some of the amazing pieces with me and I got a peek at the new lines. This stuff is to die for! When asked if I wanted to try on the $22,000 necklace…I had to say no…I might never have taken it off!

Wedding Fair

So after a few weeks of recovery, I thought I would update everyone on our Wedding Fair experience.

picture-108.jpg

It was incredible, exhusating, and a whole lot of fun! Meeting so many brides who LOVED our little magazine was incredible. (We heard so many times from brides that last year’s issue had become their “bible” we almost started to keep count!) Standing on a hard wood floor for two days, and going out dancing the Saterday night was exhausting…. and chatting with vendors, looking at all the great booth displays, and feeling all the love in the air was so fun!

We are also very proud to announce that two of our aisle walk vendors one best booth awards! Sweet Beginnings won for best single booth, and Delovely Creative won for 1st runner up Single booth (basically second place behind Sweet Beginnings)

One common theme throughout a number of booths was the sparkle and glimmer of crystals and the drama of trees. The aisle walk booth was part of the trend with crystals adorning our gold tree highlighted by four simple chandliers. Our booth looked so good we got confused for a decor company… thanks to Jeanette from Delovely Creative for helping us! picture-009.jpgpicture-023.jpgpicture-062.jpg

Wedding fair is by far the busiest wedding show. We actually gave out about 4000 magazines! But it also attracts many of the best vendors in the city, and can give brides a ton of ideas for thier wedding. I think it was a great success this year; I can’t wait to give out more magazines at Bridal Trends in Februry!

z is for fantastic

While preparing for an insanely busy weekend at wedding fair, Tammy and I headed to Zin restaurant and met the executive head chef and to sample some of their amazing treats. Not only was the atmoshpere simply zen but I have to comment on an amazing dish we sampled. If you ever find yourself around Zin at dinner time, you have to try the Canadian Shortribs. After tasting it, I had to call the chef out to find out how he did it. Here is the lowdown… the beef is braised until tender with porter beer, balow, fresh herbs, and veal stock. It is then served up wth Okanagon Goat cheese, celery root, and potato puree. Simply divine. Not only is the food amazing, but Zin on Robson might just be the perfect place for your rehersal dinner!

Wedding Maps!

Wedding maps are such a gift to out of town guests. I went to a wedding one time that was across the country, booked my hotel, and after the reception had a $50 cab ride back to my hotel due to not knowing how far I actually was from the wedding locations. This was very frustrating for me, and navigating a new city can make anyone a bit nervous. So more and more brides are including wedding maps with their invitations, and/or wedding websites. So far the only way to create one is either to go to a site like google maps for a map that is too technical looking, draw a crude one yourself, or hire a designer/illustrator to create a beautiful custom one for you. Well I found a great site www.weddingmapper.com that lets you create maps for all your wedding locations online. You simply type in your area (Vancouver BC) then provide the names of each of your wedding locations. For example on my map below I chose Stanley Park Chapel and Terminal City Club for the ceremony and reception. The website automatically found both sites, and placed cute icons (there are several to choose from) to show guests where they are located. I even added a hotel location and the Airport. After you take a few minutes to create your map, you can then email it, print it, or place it on your website. Click on the link below to view the one we made.

A quick image of what our map looks like. Go to the link below to see it in full view.

aislewalk goes wedding fair

With Christmas just a few days away, most people are thinking of presents and eggnog. Sharing a few days with family and friends and a couple of much needed days of work. Well, for us at aislewalk, we’re wrapping up a few presents of our own…. We are getting ready to give away thousands of FREE copies of aislewalk 2007 at the annual Wedding Fair at the Westin Bayshore being held January 6&7. It is always an exciting time of year for us as this is when we actually get to get into the trenches and spread the word about our little publication. We hope to see everyone there!

Happy holidays to all

great chocolates!

So I happen to go to the circle craft christmas market this year. I love to see all the great small businesses and because I belive that inspiration can come from anything, this show is choc full of just that. There is fashion, christmas decor and of course great food. So I came across this little booth where they were giving away chocolate samples. After I tried a piece (and it was incredible) I noticed that they had a unique collection of chocolates called the masterpeice collection with beautifull little illustrations on them. Including a cherry blossom which is a hot theme this year carrying over from last year.

masterpiece collection

Anyhow, they also have great little favor gift boxes for weddings, and are open to custom work. Check out this great company if you really want chocolate favors, but with a modern twist. www.chocolatas.com

perfect product ~ posh wed pod

Engaged couples in Vancouver have less time to plan due to busy schedules, making it difficult to meet potential vendors. In response, aislewalk vendor Marliss Productions recently unveiled the Posh Wedding Video Podcast a free online bridal resource where couples watch vignettes, essentially meeting the vendors, viewing their services and can even ask for advice. Couples will be able to see hot new fashion trends for 2007, get expert make-up advice, décor ideas and much more. They will also get tips on how to prepare themselves for a consultation with a vendor making sure they know what questions to ask and what to be on the look out for.
Now, couples can view vendor’s webcasts in the comfort of their own home. They can also view podcasts by uploading the movie file onto their video iPods and watch it on the go. Now couples can enjoy planning by connecting to a resource based on the familiar television network platform in an aesthetically pleasing environment. Congrats to Marliss who won the aislewalk award for Best New Product.
